Penn SSV4500LL rod match

Getting a second Penn SSV4500LL for my Kayak. 1st one is on a Tsunami TSAWEBC-701MHJ. Should I buy another for $100 bucks or are there better rod options for that price point.

I personally like a 7'6" rod.
Star rods are hard to beat. I have a 8' Shimano teramar for my stradic 4000 I love that setup for trout red fish pompano Bonita.
I may be wrong but I think a longer rod would help with casting distance out of a kayak.

I would absolutely recommend the Falcon Coastal XG. I've got an 8' paired with my CI4+ 4k and I use it for everything. It's got enough backbone to set the hook topwater frog fishing for bass, and enough tip to fight a trout before ripping lips open.

And I believe it's 80 or 90 bucks at BPS.

True dat, the Falcon Coastal series is just about impossible to beat for under $100. Absolutely awesome rods, although I only have experience with their casting rods.

If the OP has a little more coin, I'd like to recommend the Star Rods Stellar Lite series. At +-$120 for a 7'6'' model with great backbone, a very sensitive tip, no weight, & a no questions asked lifetime warranty, I don't think it can be beat in its price range.

I think you will need a little stronger line than 20lb for a 20lb snapper I see it running you to the bottom with ease.
I use a Calcutta 401 bait caster with 50lb power pro and 18lbs of drag plus what I can put on it with my thumb and still get broke off sometimes.
If you hook a tarpon with 20lb line it will pull you all around the gulf, it will take for ever to land if it don't pop your line when it jumps.
I am all about catching big fish on light tackle but snapper will mess up some tackle.

I agree on the snapper point and would never bottom fish with this combo for snapper. I could put 30lb on it but prefer 300yds of 20lb. I am definitely trying to lighten up my gear for I normally troll with two shimano Calcutta 700s w/40lb braid however they seem to be overkill for trolling within 4 miles of the beach. I also can carry my cobia setup 706z w/50lb braid on an 8' outcast rod. I also have a nice little ballistic 2500 combo for spanish which I caught some small bobos with talk about fun I saw tape on the spool 3 times with one of them and finally a cabo PT50 30lb braid on a tiger lite for jigging over structure. Hope this helps and thanks for yours I appreciate it
