I need to build a new dock at my house on Blackwater River. Who is it in Pensacola , Gulf Breeze, that can help me with the permitting process ? His name was mentioned a while back on here, but I cannot find it now . Please help me out...

If you already have a dock why the permit? I'm just wondering. Why couldn't just call it repairs? It's not a form of new construction if you are doing the work

Here's my recent marine construction experience.

I reached out to Gaddy, Dales & Alford & Sons. Got timely call backs and quotes from Gaddy & Dale's, couldn't connect for quote from Alford until months later when I'd already made a commitment.

Process was said to be 2-4 months for permitting with construction to follow. No more than a 6 month process. Started the process in April got that 2-4 month permit back at the end of December, 8 months later.

You're right if you're not changing the footprint there's a good chance that you can avoid this ridiculously long permit process. My marine construction guy said that with minor modifications, their approach is to take action and beg for forgiveness (with something small).

I wasn't impressed with the effort. You'd figure that starting in that 2-4 month window I'd get regular updates. At about 6 months they said they'd push on Wetland Sciences but no follow up and when I pushed on WS their promises fell flat.

In the end, I decided to sell the house instead of spending the $25k on a mack daddy boat house. Their loss. Personally if you have a choice, I'd wait for the glut in projects to slow down and let them get hungry or for the whole permitting process step to get more streamlined or for competition to be introduced. It's ridiculous and it's Trump's fault for having a good economy and lots of people with disposable cash.

Looks like somebody let Richard play on the computer......but back to the post, I agree with staying inside the original footprint and make your life much easier.

It was a tongue in cheek comment ... "too much disposable cash" I hope for all of us to be blessed with this problem for years to come.
