I have two versions on my iphone. the older one you just downloaded the app version of the area you wanted detail of. The newer one you can download any area in the usa and bahamas up to a certain size. But you can download several different areas as long as your phone has the space. First had it on my 3gs, now on the i4 not the i4s. In late '09 bought my big boat in Naples FL. The chip in the plotter only covered detail up to Ft. Myers. Used my 3gs for deatailed map from Ft. Myers to Clearwater. Then the jump to Apalachicola. From Apalachicola to Destin, Destin to Dauphin Isand, and Dauphin Island to Slidell LA. Tracks very good no phone service needed. Been 80 miles south of the mouth Mississippi river, still worked good. Speed is tracked very close to plotter if not dead even. I have detailed chip for my area in the plotter now but use the phone to scroll around on the charts with out have to mess with my plotter. The new version of this app also lets input information onto the chart such as an obstruction and share it with other users. The tide tables on the charts are accurate also. You can also overlay the chart with google, bing, or terrain. Latest version I have is USA. Was $15.00 at the time. Hope this helps
