Default Naval Academy Graduation Trip

My oldest is graduating this week so I just flew up here. Well we had time to kill so we hit up a few antique shops and of course I scored a killer deal on a Mitchell 386 on an old Berkley 10.5 ft (bambo I think) rod. There was a brand new Shakespeare micro on a Quantum rod and the woman came over and said all the fishing rods were 10 bucks! There were a couple older and other crap rods but nothing i wanted/needed so I only got those 2. When I got to the hotel I did what anyone else would do, start playing with em... I cleaned the exterior as good as I could and the Mitchell is a 8 outta 10 cosmetically but what I see under the spool and function is a 9.5 outta10. Its the French model. Won't take em on the plane but Saturday my son is driving down so he can put them in his car.... cant wait to take em apart to look at the innerds and grease em up. The Shakespeare is gonna go on a crappie rod fer a spare...Blue Angels fly today so I will update thread with more pics!!! A local said that only guests can come on the Academy grounds to watch the show and my youngin' said its a great show and they fly close so it might be better then the home shows....

Congrats to your son on his graduation and "Thank you for your service." Looks like a nice score on the fishing equipment. Nothing better than a great 2fer!

Jason, I am so happy for you, family and your son at graduating! What an experience. I know someone that may also be there. I'll reach out! And quite a score on the new fishing machines. Now need one with the foot in it too!!

Just FYI, I carry reels and even travel rods on flights. Carry-on even. I have heard of people having issues with spooled reels but I never have. Just FYI in case you want to take your reels on the plane and let the rods come down later.

I would be beyond proud if that were my son.
