Default Native Pensacolian planning fishing trip for 91 year old dad

Greetings to All!

I'm an admitted nubie to the forum. I was born in Pensacola (PHS class of '70) but I haven't lived there since about '73.

About 7 years ago my parents moved from PNS to be close to me because they needed help with day-to-day life. I'm not sure which my Dad (age 91) misses the most-his shop or the gulf.

I'm planning a 3-day fishing trip for Dad soon (like before July) and need some advice. I'm sure he will want to try some of his old favorite spots, but we've both forgotten much of what we knew to fine-tune the experience. My Dad gets around pretty well for 91, but is not up for long treks, climbing many stairs, or strenuous activity. I don't think a group boat, deep-sea or close in, would work for him. We'll need 2-4 hour stops with a little rest along the way.

We sold a lot of fishing stuff but have a couple of cast nets and about every weight pole out there. We have boxes of lures, hooks, weights, floats, etc., but need advice on what's currently working. I'm certainly open to buying the right rigs & such.

We'll want to try a variety of spots. We don't have a boat, so I'm open to a paid guide to take us to bay sites and close-in gulf sites for a few hours. I'll be grateful for any advice the forum has to offer.

One last thing. Until we finally sold my childhood home about 2 years ago, I always knew where to stay in Pensacola. If anyone has suggestions for a rental that doesn't cost an arm & a leg, I'd be glad to know about it.

I know I may be asking for a lot of info, but with bits and pieces from several forum members I think I'll be able to form a plan. I'd be glad to swap advice & talk you through hanging stuff on the wall. Knowing how to hang draperies right could save a lot of grief and possibly save a marriage!

Feel free to message me privately if you want.

Many thanks,

Facebook. Reel Way charters. Capt Kenny can make it happen. When he gets bored he fly fishes for flounder with dry flies in 20 knot winds. He can catch fish

Thanks lettheairout for your rec. I think he's booked when I need to go. Do you or anyone else have other suggestions? Any charters to avoid?

I didn't know what kind of response to expect, but I've only gotten 1 response. Should I have posted somewhere else other than "General?"

You think he's booked? I'd call and make sure. Ask him who we recommends to go out with

His online booking tool is where I got info that he was booked. I messaged him via his website after a direct email came back as undeliverable. I'll try calling tomorrow.

Thanks again lettheairout. Let me know if you need advice about hanging stuff on the wall.

Well my dad and I are back from 1/2 day on Pcola bay. Caught limit on snapper. Not quite as big as in recent post titled "Bay Snapper" but respectable. I'll post pic if I can figure out how.

Can anyone recommend a good place to cast a net for mullet? We're staying in Gulf Breeze, but don't mind a short drive. As I remember, just before sunset was the best, but correct me if I'm wrong.
