Wow, hope that you recover soon. That's scary.

Friend in Port St. Joe has had 2 doses. First was from handling a fish that got him a tad with its fins. Infected the arm - luckily he had already been on a light antibiotic for something else and it was not real bad. 2nd time, last year, was getting the boat ready to go and a board that was leaning against the rail slid and scraped his leg. No biggie, right? He went fishing and was handling fish and getting brackish water all over himself and the scraped leg and a few days later he was in hospital - for several weeks. Was on antibiotic drip fro 6 months and was not allowed outside.

Sorry to say his fishing days are over. That is some bad stuff thanks to water pollution and city sewage systems that don't work.

That's horrible. I have a couple of cuts that went funny after launching in Bayou Texar. They ended up healing, thankfully.

Were the OP and the Port St. Joe guy with compromised immune systems in any way when the infections were acquired?

I do think the 'key' word here is, a compromised immune system. I am on a trek to find out just what that means but, to all of you. Thanks for the kind words. It is scary but, we live in a world where all things are compromised in sorts. Important here is that we keep cuts, scrapes, etc., clean as possible. I've never fretted of things like this but today, it's different.

Peace

He has risen!
