Default My new,old skiff and a trolling motor question..

Popped from the original Hobie Power Skiff mold here in FL.

Came with a fresh water Minnkota Edge trolling motor that I am afraid to use in the salt???

Advise please on trolling motors.

I had a fresh water MK foot control on my whaler for years. All saltwater use. Rinsed thoroughly after each use, removed from boat an placed in the garage. Never had a problem with corrosion, sprayed it occasionally with WD 40. You could add a zinc if you like.

Hope this helps

Jeff

Pretty much all minn Kota can be used in salt water. Just rinse it well when done. I would use it till it breaks then get another one.

Thanks to both positive posters about using it till it dies.
That was my opinion based on 50/50 reviews of new minkota saltwater motors as of late.

I'd suggest buying Minn Kota's sacrificial anode that replaces the standard prop nut.

Default Love this boat

It is like driving a little sports car.
Thanks for all the responses.
I no longer have to worry about the trolling motor.
Will run,rinse,replace when necessary.

I have nothing useful to add about the TM, however, Ive always wanted one of those Hobie skiffs! Mainly because of how awesomely 80's their original promo video is:

Default I dig it

My brother has an original Hobie Skiff.
Thatís where I first experienced it.Think his might be a Ď92.
Wagner in Bradenton,Fl bought the molds from Hobie and mine is a 2001.
Fun little boats that can slice through some chop.

They really feel like an old English sports car.

Fun..
