This chaps my behind. With the amount of lawyers out there who love fishing, you'd think there'd be serious challengers to the allocation policy. Using this logic, why not let duck hunters have a 3 day season, but if you hunt with a guide you get 3 months? This is all ridiculous. Assuming "equal protection under the law", we should all have equal access to a public wildlife resource. If there is too much pressure on the resource, cut everyone back, especially commercial interests. There are consequences to all of the development and population growth driven by our local officials, and it will get worse. But it doesn't mean they should give special protections to one group of fisherman over another.
Propaganda supporting the status quo fishing debacle - these guys (and their enviro benefactors) don't want any changes made to the Magnuson since they are the "winners" while virtually everyone else are the "losers" in this deal. All of those guys support the privatization of our fisheries.
So it's easy for someone to spend 100 grand on a boat ,equipment, state licenses, and fuel and every dollar that goes into the local economy but anyone who comes down from out of state can pay 40 dollars to the boat packed with 50 people to go out and wipe out a reef paid for by the local tax payers.this video just proves how greedy and asanine the charter and commercial industry are.
What a joke, in one breath they say there are too many people fishing and in the next they say all three sectors need to work together. Gary Jarvis is the real joke here, He despises the people he takes fishing, it's all about him.
Simple solution. Outlaw all electronics. Gps, loran, radar, all of it. That is what Jarvis and Destin said have caused depletion. I will do it if they will
Speckled....so, will you never again eat shrimp, etc? Never use a bait you didn't cstch? Lecture your friends who want to eat some shrimp or lobster or scallops or......you get the picture.
