Default Marine Survey cost

I'm looking at buying a 36ft center console boat with twin outboards. To get it insured I'll need a survey. It's been a few years since I've had one done. Can anyone give me a ballbark figure on the cost?

When I was selling boats in 2010, you could expect anywhere from $15-$20 per foot. Try BJ Dunson at Dunson marine services.

Default Survey

I just had one done last week and he charged me $600.00. It was on a Contender 31 cuddy.

$18 is the going rate around here for an ACCREDITED surveyor. Google SAMS or NAMS to find one.

I had my 36 Topaz surveyed recently. It was 12 bucks a foot. I had Gene Briggs Marine Surveying do it. He did a great job at a good price. 850-456-4968 Tell him i sent ya!

One more for B.J. Dunson. When B.J. was an inspector in the USCG station Mobile, he gave me a short course in repairing blistered fiberglass. After the repairs, I had maybe 3-4 more come back in the next 8 years of owning the boat. B.J. recently assisted me in a Stability test on the aluminum hull boat. We went from 18 passengers to 33 passengers to 100 miles. He knows his stuff!
