  1. Check for clearance behind where you are going to mount it,
  2. measure before you cut,
  3. pre-drill your screw holes,
  4. run wires away from engine/ignition wiring.
  5. turn it on, kick back and drink beer (or with the money you would have spent on "professional" installation - a bottle of 20 year old single-malt scotch).

I installed car and marine electronics for 14 years (professionally. but I am in Montgomery, AL... So I dont know how much help that I can be.
