Default Looking For A good Rod

Hey everyone. I have an Abu Garcia AMbassadeur 5000. Im wanting to use it for trout and redfish here on NAS Pensacola. Any reccomendations on good rods? I want a rod to feel the fish good with but one that will stand up for the fight when a monster locks on. Looking to spend no more that 30-40

Your budget doesn't exactly allow for the best "all around" rod for that Abu. But with that said, I'd take that $40 & go buy a 7' or 7' 6" Ugly Stik Lite. 5 year limited warranty & will stand up to anything you're likely to hook up with. Not the lightest or most sensitive, but for $40 they're hard to beat. Otherwise, PM Pompano Joe here on the forum & see if he has any rods in your price range that would pair well with your reel.

I have my Abu round reels on a number of different rods. One is on a 7' 6" CastAway, one on a 7' 9" Wright & McGill S-Curve, & one on an 8' Daiwa Ballistic. Personally, for what you described you'll be using it for, I'd check out the Wright & McGill S-Curve series. You can get them at Dick's for $100. SUPER soft, sensitive tips & they cast a mile, but they don't flinch when bowed up against a 30 lb. bull red. Another one to check out would be the Star Rods Stellar Lite. They have a lifetime warranty & are EXCELLENT rods. I have an 8' spinning model but plan on getting a casting one soon. At about $120 they are light as hell, cast amazing, & can be replaced via the warranty any time something happens to them!
