Default Long boat ride this week!

I helped a friend move his charter boat from Destin to Carrabelle, nearly 160 miles at 9-10 knots. Left Wednesday morning at 7 am, we drove in shifts (3 of us) and made it to just south of Cape San Blas before stopping for the night at about midnight. Last 2 hours was socked in fog, glad I wasn't the one at the wheel.

Fixed a cup of coffee and watched the sun come up Thursday morning. Beautiful. We fished a bit on the way to Carrabelle, couldn't get any takers. Thank goodness for the chart plotter, fog all the way to the dock.

That would make a great trip in April.

Out of curiosity. Across the Gulf or ICW?

We stayed outside. Weather was good, we had a 2 day window and made the trip.

We had hoped for a 3-4 day weather window so we could fish along the way, weather didn't cooperate. Would be a fun leisure trip in the spring.

I’ve also wanted to take a trip from Destin, Panama City, etc. across the Gulf to say, Tampa Bay. I never have seen the Big Bend area from the water and from what I understand it’s “unique” to say the least.
