Default Line spin while trolling

I use barrel swivels when I troll for kings but I always wind up with line that gets INCREDIBLY spun an twisted, to where if I try and use that same rig later for bottom fishing it is impossible. How can this be avoided ?????

Use a quality ball bearing swivel, make sure your bait is streamlined. Watch it close to the boat at troll speed to see if it is spinning. If it is, you need to make an adjustment. I presume you are trolling a cigar minnow ? If you line gets too twisted, you will have to cut off any lure or bait, start your motor up and let out line while you are running your boat. all of the twist will come out.

What are you trolling? It sounds like your bait is spinning more than it should.

As stated use good ball bearing swivels. I will say the tsunami brand ball bearing swivels are actually decent for the price. Just give em a check twist before you use them as every once in awhile youll get a dud.

Billfisher makes some good ball bearing ones. Still make sure your bait is swimming straight though.

Yea frozen cigs, I run them by the boat before deploying them, maybe I just need to watch them a little longer and a little better

Put a 1oz jighead and a stinger 4x treble on it. It'll help stop the spin.

Yep, you need to fix the spin. Spinning baits catch no fish. And they leave the mess of twisted line.

But as stated above, you can cut off the lure/rig and let out a few hundred yards of line behind behind your running boat. Of COURSE while you do this, some jackass will cut right behind you no matter how out in the open you are. haha
