Default Johnson Beach FYI

If the NPS would do their job on the shoulders out there, we may not be having this discussion...

Sounds like Johnson Beach is about to look just like the beach at Pickens. Stretches of no-parking signs and no access except for a few tiny areas.

They have wanted to close the entire road from the parking lot to the very end ever since Ivan buried it.
They hate visititors, period.
They have two big JD farm tractors with loaders and are too damn lazy to use them to properly keep the sand back off the shoulders.
Instead they prefer to issue $200 parking tickets for "impeding emergency vehicles" if you are parked more on (above) the road than off the road.

The above are facts, not opinions.

I agree 110percent JBB
So Sept first I guess we need to be at:

The NPS is holding a public scoping meeting from 4-7 p.m. Sept. 1 at the Perdido Key Community Center, 15500 Perdido Key Drive.

Dont be late!!

remember the turnout when the wanted to close off the waterside of JB a few years ago....need another good turnout for this

A sign of the times. where I grew up in Orange Co. they have signs "no parking on right of way" with the FL statute number. We use to stop & fish these lakes & ponds when I was a kid in the 60's.

NPS=No Practical Sense. I rarely go out there anymore because it's not so local friendly. Hasn't been since they started charging for parking in the bungalows that were built in the '80s.
The beaches were in better shape when folks were racing their '57 Chevy's on the sand every day! Seriously they're better off taking our money, wading it up and throwing it S.E. toward the next hurricane trying to save the dang beach mouse. One day we'll all be long gone and the mice will be laying out on the sand getting a tan sipping a cold one telling stories of what idiots the humans were.

Worst idea ever was letting the park service get hold of all that beach front!!This one thing has held back the entire area from its full potential!! Just imagine a marina and bridge across the pass. (Like destin or orange beach)Hell they are too sorry to put trash cans on the pier. But raise the prices of passes and camping and admission , but cut off water and electricity to the pier. Not to mention doing away with night owl passes. Oh yeah, let's not forget that fine million dollar ferry dock that they don't even have a ferry in the planning for that is gated off with no trespassing signs for the last 5 years !!! There's no parking on the whole beach period thanks to the Santa Rosa isl. ath. And the park service. 30 years ago u could park anywhere along Pickens road. It's no wonder esc. County is such a loser.

It may be a pain in the ass but I think its better than being over run with giant condos. Does Destin have any more fishing access to the beach than we do?
