Default Jelly Fish

Fished the Pass Monday afternoon. Hot, but about slick calm. Stopped in the Cove and the Jellies were so thick you could not get out of the boat. Bad as I had seen them in a long time. They were slowly heading towards the pass with the outgoing tide. Guess it's that time of year.

Spade fish on light tackle. Loads of fun! They feed on the jellyfish migration this time of year which will be approx. 2-3 miles off the beach just out the pass. You'll see them in the thousands. Actually can fry up pretty decent with Zatarans crispy southern mix. Well at least so I'm told

I remember seeing tons of blue crabs on beached jellyfish a few years ago. I believe they were moon jellyfish. I couldn't believe it; I just ran from jelly to jelly snatching the good size crabs. Had a nice batch of crabs to steam up. May have to get out there and see if they're at it.

Uhm... the jellyfish
Been a long time since I last ate Spadefish but remember it being decent table fare. Was amazed as to how big the schools were when the jellyfish were floating east to west with the current. Never seen any other type fish in numbers like it before.
