Default Inshore slam question...

Ok an inshore slam is defined as?

A speck trout, a flounder and a redfish right?

Well I know it is a fairly easy thing to get an inshore slam for most folks..for me it is down right impossible. Last night went to a dock in perdido loaded up with perfect baits for flounder...baby pinfish, baby finger mullet and baby croakers...all perfect sizes! Anyway we get to the dock and monster specks everywhere...My buddy casts and lands a nice 19" speck on a gulp. I am still rigging for flounder so I let him have at the specks. Anyway dropped down and waited and waited etc...anyway bumping across the bottom I get slammed and come up with a 20" speck which was the beginning a fantastic fishing trip cause I love to outfish my buddy.

Ok fast forward....an hour goes by with not a single hit...we leave to head home about 10:30...going over Alabama point pass we see the same vehicles as we saw hours ago...so we say what the heck...drop in and everyone is fishing for big redfish...many have been caught and landed in the coolers. We arrive just in time to see the current slow and then stop...I am looking into the crystal clear water under the wall and see small (7-8 inch) flounder swimming...so I drop my gulp and they go nuts! Well I am keeping it away from the smallies and out of nowhere a huge flat figure comes up and nails me! Yup a good ole flattie (20") and beautiful! Well I am pumped I got the fish in hand that always eludes me for a slam. Ok so now I am on a mission for my redfish...BUT my now p'od buddy who I have outfished is now ready to go home!

Fast forward to trip home...He lives off of canal road in Orange Beach I keep passing all of these public docks saying I HAVE TO FIND A REDFISH...but he is done...so as we pass the Orange BEach kids park I tell him I am going there on my way home to try and catch a redfish under th lights at the pier. He laughs and tells me I am a "dumbass" cause nobody ever catches anything there but mullet...

Well drop him off and think to myself what a dumbass I am for wanting to chase one fish...but what the hell...I pull into the park with a beatup bit off gulp and make a cast down the first light...whoa a strike...a fish what is it? Oh a nice white trout...no wait...A REDFISH?

Now guys I have caught a lot of fish and a lot of trophy fish in my day...for some reason I just sat back and reflected on the luck of this event. Special to me in that I pursued this across 2 states and 3 spots all from land! Now my question is this? The flounder and specks were legal fish...The red was about 12" (thrown back) does this count as a slam?

Anyway thnaks for reading...its moments like this that remind me (and you I am sure) how lucky we are to live in such a great area...Ran into cr115 to btw hope he returns to the forum soon!

Chris

Chris, I would count the undersized Redfish towards a slam but I am going to disqualify you for crossing state lines.oke

Congrates on a inshore slam. If it was a billfish slam and one of the bills were under size. It would still be a slam. Congrates again. Gene
