Default Importing waypoints Garmin 5008

Been working with some numbers from my dad's old log book that was recently found from back in the 70s.

Does anyone have any experience in importing numbers into a garmin 5008? I have heard several things and not sure what to do. I have Andren's Software so I can put it in any format needed but I have read to where I need to have either home port or map source and have to interface these programs with the GPS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mapsource is replaced with homeport. Get it and it will work.

Go here. Its the easiest to use and it's free up to 100 waypoints. I purchased the full version, and it was only $60. Ive downloaded to garmin, furuno etc... Pretty self explanatory when you atart using it.

Thanks guys I will get Home Port and try it this way. I have raymarine equipment on my boat and the loran to GPS conversion was easy as was converting it into the archive.fsh file structure. Now we are trying to place it on his friends rig and I have been beating my head against the wall trying to figure it out.

We have found quite a few of the numbers for live bottom inside state waters and found several planes that were disposed of out in the gulf and got some decent fish off of them so we wanted to share the numbers with his old fishing buddies.

It will continue to accept waypoints on a blank card genned by mapsource 6.12 or later.
So it's a matter of converting what you need to the right format and merging the data from the card.

Maybe, but rocks don't generally move, and natural bottom often stays good. I've recycled some old numbers from a local charter boat Capt., some were good, some not. It's at least worth looking if you are close.

I hate to see you go through trouble converting and installing those numbers. But Xshark is correct those 70s numbers are all just sand i had thousands of LORAN numbers from the 70 all the small spots are gone. Best thing to do for spots is just get all the public spots. there are so many you will never run of of fishing/ Diving spots. Then as you are running to spots watch the fathometer as there are many new spots built. Good luck...
