Default Hit a nice log while on the Blackwater river

They say there are 2 kinds of people on the river, those that have hit logs and those that are going to hit logs. Well after many lucky years it finally happened today. We were lucky to be at idle coming from the first lake past the boat ramp on the right. I had the engine a little to low and it hit a log. Shut her down raised it up and luckily all was well. Went to start it up and nothing, Had to tap the starter while turning it over until it fired up. Wet back to the ramp and. Tried starting its several more times and it worked So we spent the rest of the day out there. Had a great time but it got packed after 10:00
Got lucky this time.

I have caught a few stumps and sandbars out there. It did get packed today. I thought it was a bit overkill for the Coast Guard to be pulling people over between the bridge and trestle. They where in like a 25-30 rigid in Blackwater. Friggin huge.

My boss has a couple of seaplanes. About 25 years ago he decided to do some touch and go's up in Blackwater River and on the second one hit a log which punched a hole in the hull about 6" in diameter. As soon as he realized he was taking on water he beached it. Took about a week to repair the damage. The "expert" that repaired it for him applied a fiberglass patch on the inside of the hull since the hole was on the bottom and they couldn't get to it. He casts off, taxis a bit to check for leaks, all appears good so he nails the throttle. Somewhere around 30 knots the patch lets loose and the hull acted like a big scoop. Airplane sank like a rock in about 10' of water. Took two weeks to get it back to shore, disassembled and loaded up on a trailer.
