Default Head boat problems

Me and my buddy wernt able to get enought people to commit to getting a private charter, so we are stuck going on a head boat. We dont plan on using their standard rigs im going to make some rigs for red snapper. Any suggestions on other rigs. Im also going to try to catch us live bait while we are out there do i just use a sabiki rig tiped with squid or something else? Any advise is apprecieated.

Thanks Nate

Most of those head boats you will catch some small enough porgies and toadfish that you can turn around and use for bait. But unless you bring some live cigs and pinfish with you I doubt you will have a chance to get anything like that before they head out

If possible, catch some pinfish the night before. Most times I fish party boats, we use small hooks to catch ruby lips, rock fish, and sand perch for larger bait.

They don't like changing Rigs, It causes to many tangles.. Same size weights , same type and size line etc. all mono, or all braid,

we are coming from tallahassee so prob one out of panama city unless its worth the drive to go out of destin we only get sundays off so we will either drive down the night before or just get up early. any sugestions are welcome.

Just realize on a party boat that if you catch live bait and put it in the livewell, it's probably going to be used by the whole boat, not just you. My suggestion would be to enjoy the party boat for what it is. Use their equipment and their rigs etc... Party boat is not set up for individualized fishing and may cause more headaches than it's worth. Just go and have fun. Ask the captain or person you talk to when y ou book the trip these questions.

Also if anyone knows of charter boats in PCB or Destin or anywhere within 2 1/2 hours of tallahassee that we could call to check and see if they have any open spots that would be awsome we dont mind spending more money.
