2 Lbs shark on 80lbs braid. we were shocked his mouth could fit the hook being taht we were targeting larger sharks. The bait was bigger than the catch for sure. we hand lined the fish in. Couldnt even feel it on the rod and reel.

I respect every anglers reasoning for fishing and method of fishing. Those choices are ours to make for our own personal enjoyment whether that decision be for sport, recreation, livelihood, or food. Personally I enjoy every aspect of fishing so usually I choose to be diverse with my line selection and fishing style in a landlocked capacity. I've been almost spooled more times than I can count. I've also been skunked even more so. I sometimes by choice avoid certain species of fish. I thoroughly love seeing others pull in monster bull reds. For me after the 1st one is where the boredom factor kicks in. But if someone else is having a blast doing it that's what it's all about. I'll use 40lb line to enjoy the occasional shark run or a big bull red. 8-17lb line for anything smaller. My reasoning for fishing is to have an escape from the daily demands of my ever so hectic career and life. I find that during my escape I'm happiest when I catch one or two fish worthy of a small meal or snack fried up fresh on the spot. Just in case nothing is biting I'll carry along a spud or boil some peanuts knowing that I won't leave hungry or feeling that my journey wasn't a success. Many times I have targeted a certain species and was overpowered by using light tackle or line that was not effective for the fish hooked. Probably many more times I was unsuccessful at even hooking that very same species by using tackle or line that was way too heavy. The get away and thrill of the unknown makes it fun! But most of all the mission is accomplished when I have had the opportunity to get out there and wet a line. Personally for me, that makes my journey a success.
