Garmin 301 or 401. Super simple to use and can't beat the price!

I have a used Garmin Legend that I don't need. It's basic and can get you around. $45.

Garmin either Dakota or Oregon series make sure it will accept an sd chip so you have plenty of storage room. With these series you can download free maps that are better detail for nearly anywhere. If you pay for the program you can download sat photo images for the area you would like. I have the Dakota 20 and love it but the screen is a little small

Get a black and white, the CPR ones will burn up some batteries . I have a Garmin and am happy.

I have the Garmin GPSMAP 78sc on order. Its pretty much the best handheld gps for fishing or any marine use. I like the fact that it is not a touch screen(if you have ever used a handheld touch screen while fishing it sucks!), its color, comes with blue charts loaded and you can add any other charts you wish, it has a 3 axis compas which means you will get a compass heading while stationary unlike most gps and it floats!
