No claim from me. I am one of the many that the oil spill had absolutely no effect upon. And I do own a boat, and I do fish, and I continued to do so throughout the summer and fall with no decrease in pleasure and production of table fare. So I guess the "ridiculous" is all on your side pinky.

I gave my opinion on what the op asked, mind your own business. ONCE again some of these responses are the exact reason ALOT of people don't post here anymore and are now members of GCFC, Gene, Time, Recces crew has alot of GREAT information to offer to people but dont post on here at all anymore, If anyone wants to see or read their reports they are now at the GCFC, this also falls back to the Garbo question.
Easy Buddy, Don't get so intense about it. You are right, I am nosey. It is human nature to be nosey. I just wanted to make sure I was clear on what you said. If you don't want everyone to know your business, don't post it on an open forum, and when you do post it, try and make it a little more clear so it does not appear to contradict what you previously have said.

You refer to Captain Paul like he is a friend of yours. I would really feel like crap if I filed a claim with BP because I could not recreationally fish and a friend like Capt Paul who obviously has a legit business got denied and you got paid.

Water Hazard and Whyworry, for many people filing has nothing to do with "what's right" (I'm afraid it's become the American way). It has to do with "let's see how much I can get." I wouldn't want anyone to remember that the economy is in trouble, Fla has an 11%+ unemployment rate and the rest of the country averages 9.4%. Even those working haven't had reasonable pay raises in years and certainly the cost of living is going up. Maybe, just maybe, people aren't spending and business revenues are down because consumers don't have the $$$ and/or don't have jobs.

I would love to be able to correlate the individuals who take advantage during natural disasters (i.e., Hurricane Ivan) and those taking advantage of the BP spill. It's kind of like "can I get a generator or two from FEMA even if I don't deserve one?" But people rationalize and decide by gosh I do qualify! So continue to throw it against the wall and see what sticks... Great lesson to teach the next generation.

lbhuntly,

In 4 years on this forum, I think this is the first time I agree with what you said. You are right, it's seems that for a lot of people it is all about them and what and how much they can get for free.

Did completely the same thing. I believe here in destin we couldn't go out for what 2-3wks? Well we could go out but was advised not too and most of us did. One good thing that the oil spill did for us is pre oil the red snapper yummy!

Gulf waters were closed for a little more than "2-3wks", in some cases you weren't allowed to leave the pass unless you were a voo boat. What you did was wrong and illegal.

He is in Destin Pinky, if you had a memory you would know that there was only a short period when the Destin pass and adjacent state waters were closed. And before you call me a crook, I fish inshore only, so only boomed-off areas were ever closed to me.

You really should read a little better Pinky I said there was 2-3 wks that we didn't go out, we could be were advised not to this is in Destin. Thus meaning we did not go out. Also it was NOT ILLEGAL to venture out of the Destin Harbor into the gulf it was just advised not to there were no laws set in place to keep you from going in the gulf it was only closed to fishing not boating. You will disagree but that is just how the cookie crumbles

Here I will say this. I didn't and will not make a claim the military did not lose any business due to the oil spill, But if you do file a claim then that is your decision if you didn't just shut the f*ck you about it. I still stick to my opinion making a false claim just because you can is still fraud. Goodluck last post on The Real House Men of Fishing Forums bitching thread.
