Default Garmin GPSMAP 3206 - data card issue

Slot 1 is for transferring data such as waypoints.

I have the waypoints on a data card which will plug in to slot 2 just fine but it won't fully connect in slot 1. There doesn't seem to be any obstruction in the slot and I can't see any bent pins. It feels like it just won't push in all the way which made me suspect bent pins but I can't see any.

Is there a way to use slot 2 for this or does any one have any other suggestions for getting the waypoints into the machine?
