No problem at all, for less then $100 It's worth a try either way but I guarantee you will love it.

I have the G2 chip (borrowed) for my Garmin and it makes a difference inshore. The guide to feature works for me. But this chip is 5+ years old so I don't trust it THAT much.

That is incorrect. I have used the guide to feature to navigate from the Oriskany all the way back through Pensacola Pass to shoreline park. Never touched the wheel, only the throttle. Came in the pass on plane and it went where we needed to go.

To the OP, I love the features of the G2 vision card. Fish eye view is really cool when you are drifting for swords in the canyon because you can see how the bottom forms under your boat. Shoot, there is a bunch of stuff on there I have not even played with yet. I recommend it, you are welcome to check it out on my boat one day or borrow the card to see if you like it.

probably a dumb question but does the chart plotter need to be connected to a fish finder to use all the features? in my case i have 2 seperate units.

I also have one installed in my boat in SC. Gene knows my boat. You can borrow the chip and give it a try if you want.
