Since my tackle was stolen from my boat, I have thought about installing a game camera on the pier.
Would this work with all the movement of water, birds, etc. I have never seen one work, so it may be a bad idea. |

It will work, just be sure to place it away from the pier if you can where it is not easily noticed. Also want the IR type so the flash does not tip the idiots off as to location. Lastly place a dummy in relatively plain sight to make easily seen to ward of potential opportunist, if someone want it bad enough hopefully they take the dummy and the real one gets them.

Should work if it is not aimed at the water. Birds will set it off but they will have to be within the range. You will have to have it locked down or disguised or the thieves will thieves will take it as well. Spypoint might be a solution for you. Uses cellular technology to transmit images back to a server that you can access via internet at any time of day or night.

Also keep in mind, thieves are opportunist, allot of times all it will take are signs, "Smile you are on camera" "This property under 24 hour surveillance" that type of thing to make them move on to the next victim.

What about a wireless IP camera? It would be smaller and easier to hide as long as it is close enough to the house to connect to your network.

You live on the water, spend the extra money. I would have a visible and hidden one, if possible. Heck, you can go to Sam's and get a do it yourself setup. |
