Default flounder gigging 10/25

Coppedliver and Iwent out last night and managed to find a few. Biggest one we got was 19 inches.

The quintessential fish story played itself last night as well. There we were, chatting it up, poling the boat, had not seen a fish in awhile, when out of the blue appeared the BIGGEST flounder I have seen in awhile.

I gigged a 24 inch flounder behind captain anderson's in Panama City one time, and this fish looked just as big as that one was.

We were moving WAY too fast to stop the boat, so I lined up on him to stick him on the fly. In my mind, the thought flew through my head "If I don't stick him in the head, he is gonna thrash around and get off my gig!" .

So, of course, I aimed for the head. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!

My gig grazed its nose as I missed the intended mark by 1-2 inches. Talk about SICK!!:sick

I watched in horror as this huge flounder gave a few good kicks and scooted right out of sight...... I felt bad about missing that fish the rest of the night! :banghead:banghead

So if anyone wins the gig/grub challenge with a fish missing some scales off its nose, I am gonna have to say some bad words! LOL
