Default Fishing/boating items you can't live without

For me recent-ish purchases:

-- Decent electronics with radar -- $2,000 Amazon bargain -- saved my arse (and possibly my marriage) this past weekend by finding a gap in that monster storm Saturday

-- Profish windlass -- 750 at Mark Gilmore marine -- saved my back countless times

-- proper anchor rode and chain -- $500 from Wholesale Marine (300ft 8-ply and chain) -- works great with the windlass and fits in the anchor locker

-- oh, and an anchor ball -- even with the windlass the ball makes retrieval a breeze

What do you consider vital? I have a birthday coming up!

Default How about these

An Epirb, possibly a 4 man/6 man valet raft, SATCOM phone. At a minimum, get the EPIRB. Good stuff you have their and understand the value.

Glad you were able to nav through the storm. Radar is great for those moments you used it in.

Cheers,

Bob

EPIRB. I bought one after the football players turned their boat over and drown a few years ago. It really gives you a warm fuzzy feeling if you are really far out.

In my line of work the Ipilot and Power Pole are probably worth their weight in Gold!! Life would be far more difficult without them...
