Default Fish ID

Caught a few of these while catching ruby reds for bait. Let em all go, but would like to know what they are. Anyone know the name of this fish?

Thanks much!

Soap fish. Don't handle (like you are doing). They secrete a toxic substance. First one I caught, I handled it then released. That night I had a dandy case of diarrhea.

Man, we catch those from time to time on one of the wrecks we fish in the bay. My father in law told me a few years ago it was a baby snowy grouper. All this time I thought that's what those were. I never knew not to handle them, either.

Learned something new, thanks!

And if you put it in your livewell with all your hard-earned live bait, it will kill every one of them. How do I know?
