That's 2 threads you posted this on. What brand won't be in the shop? I'd like to know what you prefer, since you've apparently owned about every brand out there.

FWIW, I've owned Garmin and Lowrance. Neither had any trouble after years of use. Maybe you need to quit dumping 5 gallon buckets of saltwater on your helm station.

If I were buying today it would be a Furuno or a Garmin brand.

I would stay away from Hummingbird and lowrance.

Do some research and then decide.

It's Furuno for me.

Just got a Garmin 740 with radar off amazon.com, heck of a deal.
Love it, wish I had bought it years ago.
Ray Marine kind of sucks due to being so difficult to figure out.
They have a great bottom machine though.
I also have Humminbird 788 ci's, still use one as a backup to the Garmin.
I have to turn off the sonar on the Hbird when running both. The Garmin scrambles the humminbird sonar.
Garmin bottom image is much better. The hummers still show the fish but not with the same segregation and detail.

I have the Humminbird 596c HD DI now and love it and will keep it as a back up unless some one buys it, really don't need the fish finder part of the 740s but it is a bigger screen and that is a plus i am replacing my GPS garmin it's older unit and would like to be able to load numbers from the computer and just stick the card in the unit and add radar later..
