Default Dolphin Playing with a Flounder (Video)

I was kayaking with some friends when we saw 2 or 3 dolphins tossing something out of the water. Upon closer inspection, we saw that they were throwing a flounder around.

I caught a little bit of it on GoPro and thought I would share it. I don't know if that is regular behavior, maybe they were doing it for a reason, but I would like to think that they were just playing around.

No, we were targeting reds near the docks and grassy spots around that area. I guess the dolphins out-fished us all because they had the flounder though.

They were showing off, saying "Hey Guys, this is how to do it"

I am surprised more dolphins do not get caught. That is, I am surprised more people don't get spooled by dolphins.

I've seen them in the shallows, in Apalachicola, tossing flounder up in the air. I think they're just playing with them. They'd throw them up and let them try and swim away, just to snatch them up again.

I've seen 2 adult dolphin toss a fish around w/ their baby, teaching him to fish. Maybe that's what these guys were doing.

Cool video!

This has happened to me a couple times, but not because flipper got hooked, but because the dolphin took off with my snapper. I had to cut the line or get spooled. Many times have seen dolphin toss around throw backs.....snapper, trigger, mingo, etc.

Saw the same thing in Destin East Pass a couple months ago. That Flounder was door mat size. Went on for about 30 minutes or so.
