I really like VMC hooks. They seem to be a nicer quality hook like owner or gama but much cheaper. Haven't had one fail.

Yeah, I saw what you did there.

With hooks made 12,000 miles from here with raw materials that had to be shipped from here to China, then hooks shipped from China all the way back, it's amazing that we can get them for $1 a piece.

Anyway, buying in bulk, and online, is where it's at.

This is where I get my circle hooks for nearshore and offshore.

I've been using those for a few years and love them. My buddy is a rep and turned me on to them. Hard to beat for the money.

A while back I ran across this site which is loaded with hooks and other fishing stuff. Of course, China. However, about all the hooks you buy now, even name brand, are from China. There is other junk mixed into the webite, but just run through it to the hooks. This is mostly bulk buying.

I used to buy a lot of common items at WallyWorld. 4x trebles for king and spanish, #10 gold hooks for making bait rigs, single strand and 7 strand for leaders. Then, one day...no more #10 gold hooks. Few weeks later, no 7 strand, only 2 sizes of single strand. Then all the treble hooks disappeared...as in taken off the shelf, all they carried was one size Owner trebs. Seems like WallyWorld has really cut back on fishing and hunting gear.

I saw these before and wondered about the quality. You are right, a lot is coming from China. I don't think there is any way around it.

VMC is all I use now. Very high quality hooks and they're a part of Rapala which is good if you need to replace the hooks on any of their lures, you can find the exact one. I have bulk boxes of their trebles to replace on my stretches. They have a new coastal black which is supposed to be a better finish but I haven't tried it yet.
