Default Do you ever have "You gotta be kidding me." moments?

My ex bought me a lifetime subscription to BASS back in 1967 or 1970. I darn seldom fish for Bass but catch a few most days while fishing for Snook and Redfish. So, I get the BASS Master Magazine every month and only flip through it.

Last night I found a blurb about a new treble hook from Rapala (VMC). These hooks have a small Willow Leaf spinner blade. No, here is the "You Gotta be kidding." part. Cost per hook, $5.99

If anybody is interested, I'll show how to make them from stuff you probably already have in your tacklebox. Even if you have to order the components, you can make a dozen or more for the $5.99 for one Rapala advertises.

It is crazy. Very much like store bought pompano rigs, speck double rigs, or even the redfish magic.

All way cheaper if you just put them together yourself. Not to mention I enjoying putting them together, great way to spend bad weather times. Also much easier to teach my kid to build them on the kitchen table vs the beach/pier.

Capt. Ken, I think there are a lot of us here who would be interested in learning some of your technique to make lures. I have been guilty of buying some and I wouldn't mind knowing some skills.

Here's one that happened to me just last week...

Archery hunting one afternoon, in an area of Blackwater that is slap loaded with deer, and hogs... 5pm came (legal shooting light til 6:30) and I see a doe working towards me... then another, and another. I have several deer around me and I finally get one real close. I draw my bow, and send a rage trypan straight through the boiler room. She runs 30 yards and piles up.

So there I am, just standing there, taking it all in. Text my buddy saying I got one down, when I hear heavy foot steps over my left shoulder. I turn and look, and here comes a hog straight to me. In a panic, I grab an arrow out of my quiver and nock it, as I start ranging the pig. I soon realize she's going to walk right under me. The pigs at about 12 yards, and I go to draw back. Well, apparently, in my haste, I did not nock the arrow completely and as soon as I put any pressure on, the arrow falls off and down to the ground. The pig trots off to some thick stuff at 50 yards... you have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME... lol.
