As most of you know my boat has been in shop 6 weeks. They are ready to water test, but heres storm. they were closed friday due to a death and i didnt get to ask them. I have no insurance yet, couldnt find any for a boat unless it is in blue book. My boat was custom built by a sc boat builder. Name: Kyzersimmons3.jpg

Does the boat have a HIN number?

If it does, then is in the BUC manual. This is the manual the Marine Surveyors use when doing "Condition and Valuation" marine surverys. IF not, you can still get a marine surveyor to establish baseline for boat.

Speak with insurrance carrier and ask them if they accept this type of survey for insurrance.

still amazes me that people dump a good amount of money in a boat and dont have insurance on it...then a storm pops up and they have to have insurance on it right then and there

MY.BOAT HAS NO VIN # WAS BUILT BY A MAN THAT BUILT MILLON DOLLAR BOATS. i WILL HAVE TO GO TO A ANTIQUE, OR SIMILAR INSURANCE CO FOR COLLECTOR BOATS. THEY BUILT THESE SIMMONS FOR 60 YEARS, BUT IF ITS NOT IN NADA BOOK, REGULAR COMPANIES WONT TOUCH.when i bought motor i had trouble cause i couldnt buy insurance thru a regular insurance company. Nationwide told me i couldnt afford insurance even if they could sell it.You cant buy insurance week before a storm even if you wanted, im just wondering if it would be covered if distroyed at a dealers. I will try to pick up monday morning if they are open

You cant get insurance now anyway.

I it's still at the dealership under their work order their insurance should cover any damage.

Talk to a Marine Surveyor.....they work closely with insurance companies and can probably give you a ref for an insurance carrier. Wooden boats are hard to insure...but not impossible.

As for the repair service / dealer...good question to ask them about their damage coverage. Usually they carry liability. They aslo carry inventory insurance and bonds.

As for boat in shop for maintenance.....if in doubt, get it out.

The answer is NO, our liability insurance is for our property and belongings.. you should have insurance on your own boat, usually if a boat is damaged on our property due to a storm or natural causes, we help with the deductable, but not required to,

Most polices take a little while to kick in, even if you sign up now, there is a good chance it's not going to be covered.

It's called Act Of God and not the fault of a dealer so their insurance does not cover it.
