Default Dive boat dangers

The issue is dive boat anchoring within ten feet of my bow.

I had been fishing a small wreck a mile off the beach for an hour. I was anchored up on the spot directly. I had the Local dive boat (decided to erase name of dive boat) come and start to anchor literally 15 feet from my bow ( pictures and video will be posted soon). I was already upset the captain had no remorse at anchoring on top of me. In the video you will see at one point the boat was less than ten feet from my bow and almost completely in my anchor line. I asked the captain why he was anchoring so close and dangerously, he replied were surveying. That's no excuse in my opinion to be a dangerous operator. Then I watched the divers go down right beneath me with no surveying equipment and only spear guns. I'm in the process of filing a complaint with the NMC. This is becoming more of an issue with safety. Please dive boats, have some common sense and safety when operating your vessels. We're all out to have a good time not endanger the lives of others.

The video and photos will be posted within the next day or two.

Has anyone else had safety issues like this before?

Have not had that happen but I do read about it a lot. Apparently most dive boat operators are young and have very little respect for others. Yes, they will argue they have just as much a right as you, but if you have to use that line then you know you are wrong.

Next time strip down to your skivvies or less and stand in provocative poses. Say some things like "Hi fellas". "Can you let about 15 more feet of your anchor line, pleeeze"? "We can move closer if you like".

It's more effective if you look like a heavy beer drinker.

Of course there will be trouble in paradise if they let out 15 feet of anchor line.

If he truly was 10 or 15' feet from you and you really have proof why delete his name? And why wait a couple days to post pictures?

If it happened that way the dive boat was definitely in the wrong... This scenario happens both ways so we all need to be respectful on the water to each other....We routinely have "no respecting" fishing boats run up on us all of the time, it sucks but its public... same as hunting in a WMA.... post the photos & video and let it speak for itself... less than 10 is a safety concern and needs to be reported.... How big was the wreck/reef?

If I did this the divers would get so nauseous they would have to stay topside.

what was the spot? If it was a public spot it wasn't good to get that close but it's there for everyone to enjoy. Plus I agree post the pictures and just wait until Saturday rolls around and the seas are looking like they will be somewhat calm.
