It was out stopping people in perdido pass tonight. Checking people , running license.
I was stopped for improper light. I did not have a light that could be seen from 360 degrees. I had deck lights coming off the ttop.
They were professional and meant business. I had a couple of cold ones a little before the fire works in orange beach. He asked and I told him. He did the follow the pen without moving your head. And said your good, and off to another boat he went. While I was taking the boat out at boggy point launch, they hoarded 4 boats waiting to take their boat out.

They were out just checking folks, seeing what everyone is up to. And they needed to be out there. There were boats everywhere for the firework show. It was kind of dangerous at times there were so many boats moving together after the show coming back into the pass and under the bridge.

Don't know why everyone keeps saying it's tax dollars wasted??
When I was stationed in the CG in South Texas, the customs guys had fast boats too. They could easily run down the small boats running across the border, where the bigger boats couldn't keep up.
Is this just a law enforcement thing, similar to a general hate for police/authority? I'd guess the CG has way more wasted tax dollars in boats, yet I don't hear anyone complaining.

Where you are speaking of....They may very well need it....Think about here....No border to cross.

The CG is here.....The Fish & Game officers are here....ESCO is here......Why do we need US Customs here?

Any idea how much fuel 3- Supercharged 300 Merc's suck at 4000RPM?

People are just pretty much Pissed off how the whole country is being run and Joe Q public raped of their money.

South Texas also had Game Wardens, a lot more CG, and their local Sheriff's Office. They had a border to protect, but they also had a lot more people helping.

This is the first time people have seen the customs boats here. Maybe they trailered them up to help out around the holidays. Maybe there's some Customs related stuff going on in the panhandle that called for boat operations. Who knows. Look at a map of Florida, then zoom out. Sure is a lot of water someone could make a boat disappear in, then reappear to weaker borders (panhandle), instead of the more heavily guarded ones.
There are tons of more pressing issues with the government included waste of money then to bitch about a much needed force (US Customs) and how they spend their budget. I'd rather them have a fast boat and not need it, then need a fast boat and get out run.

Have you ever seen the inventory of "confiscated" boats, autos, planes....they have? Let's just say not everything is up for sale, some get "repurposed".

No....I've seen them before around here.

But in answer to your statement about "Ton's more Pressing issue's to Bitch about." It's just another notch in the bedpost that makes the list longer.
