Default Camping at Ft Mcrae

Anyone know if camping at the fort area or on the island is being allowed now?

I haven't heard you cannot. There is a fort mac Facebook group I am a member of. Someone is always posting their camping pics. I am sure if it isn't allowed the page would blow up

I know they closed a primative camping area that you have to get a permit and walk to. Didn't know if it included the pass area or not. I'll look for the FB page. Thanks Tom

Even though technically, the Ft. McRee area is part of the Perdido land, they have usually treated it as something completely different when it comes to camping etc...

They will still drive down on their 4 wheeler every now and then and bust some folks for dogs and glass bottles on the beach. But as far as camping, since access is by boat only, they tend to let the camping folks do their thing there.

But don't give them any ideas!
