Default Buying outboard motor online

I am looking to buy a new outboard and have found great prices on boats.net and was wondering if anyone has had any experience trying this. I did call Suzuki and they said that website is linked to an authorized Suzuki Dealership.

I would be taking it to an authorized dealer for install and ordering of all cables/harnesses.

I've bought a new outboard off line before with no problems. It just had to be shipped to a business so I had to use a buddies shop address for delivery.

Default Outboard online

I bought an electric start 20 hp Suzuki online. Delivered to my Condo, slid it into my Suburban direct from the truck. Worked for 12 hours til some dirtbag stole it and the boat.

Thanks for the replies.

I'm more concerned with a dealer giving me flack for not buying the motor through them. I will be hiring them to install and will purchase the cables/harnesses from them to ensure the warranty stays in place. Just wondering if anyone has done this.

The size motor your looking at....You must take your boat to them.

Your not looking at a portable....20Hp and below. They Will ship those.

The size your looking at they will Not.

Call them talk to them...Get a quote in writing of a Out the door price. IE: Turn Key

These New mid size and larger have to be installed at a dealer when they are new. That is how the system is set up.

A buddy of mine did this....Towed to central Fl. Bought a DF-250APX. He save $6000 compared to buying local.
It was all set up. Towed down on a Sunday...Was at dealer 1st thing Monday morning. Boat was tag teamed and finished and water tested, he handed them a certified check at the end of the day.

My son is fixing to do the same thing you are thinking of to a skiff.
