Serendib (11/30/2009)This 60" red was caught at Pensacola Pass many years ago. We were fishing exactly as (Capt.) Davis described in a Saltwater Sportsman article titled "Giant Pensacola Reds". Also caught several 40" plus reds that night. We fish for bull reds every fall in the pass. Every fish we catch is measured, photographed, and very carefully returned to swim away. We have never killed a bull red. In all these years (at the pass) we have caught two slot fish which were 25" and 26". All the other fish have been close to 40" and larger. We have also caught one 54" two years ago when we caught almost 20 fish in under two hours.
Its definitely a male judging by the white stuff running down it, unless someone on the boat got too excited.

Thats one hell of a fish! Nice job man!

I have caught many over the 40'' mark recently. including a 45 1/2 '' monster bull. all big reds were caught via kayak, and on live Menhaden 4 to 5''. and the monster ate a 13'' live white trout. cant post pics from phone sorry. Go check out Kayak Wars , Extremecoast.com

Heard a report from Nas of a redfish close to 100 lbs. They didnt keep it but said it was over 6 ' long. What is the Florida record & how now can you beat it?

Florida record is 52lbs and it will never be beat unless they open up a tag system like Texas has. In texas you can keep 1 or 2 Bull reds per year or something like that...you get a tag with a saltwater license. But the florida record will not be beat unless the regs change in the future. World Record is 94 lbs so im guessing 100lb red is a fish story...

I think your measuring skills are bad. Unless you are 7ft tall that red is no where near 60...maybe 50...maybe. The world record red drum was 59.9 inches btw.

there are some monsters down there. Just look at historical photograph's from p-cola in it's Hay-day.there is some amazing fish stories backed up with pics and eye witness reports. I would love to land a 60'' Bull. I might happen, then again. Maybe not,but i can always dream.

Caught plenty last year over 40lbs. I think I had a world record on lite tackle but someone went swimming with it while putting it in the boat. :banghead
