Haven't seen one posted yet this season. A few days ago I decided to launch @ marquis basin, been working all day on my outboard to go try my luck, so I get to the dock, splash my boat and no sooner do I get ready to bust her off and I see a head pop up next to my boat.
Needless to say that was a scary experience, a kid swimming at a boat launch. So today I go after work and low and behold bubba and skeeter are fishing in between the two docks and junior is there swimming on the other side. So just be warned guys if you plan to launch there be careful, that could have been an awful day, there wasnt any parents around to fuss at. Smdh

I can't remember the last time i came back into Navy Point and there wasn't someone fishing from the pier, even though there is a sign stating no fishing from pier. I just pull in as though i don't see them and continue on my way. sometimes i get the look and every now and then one of them will have enough guts to say something about they were fishing there, then i just walk over to the sign and say "Sir it says right here in plain english NO FISHING FROM BOAT DOCK." I love boat ramps you never know what you will see.

I hear ya. I launch off of 98 at the mouth of Fish River and every time I there is some kid playing on the ramp, walking behind someone backing up or the kid that casted over my boat. I was getting the truck and my wife and the kids were sitting in the boat. It was tied up on the dock and some kid kept casting a freaking hook and lead sinker their way. The fat lady with him didn't say anything. He was 7 or 8. My wife had to unhook him from my grab rail. I hate stupid parents.

I usually pull up and do a couple of full throttle 360s right in front of the dock ...that tends to get folks to moving the heck out of the way...lol...but really, boat ramps are for boats....
The worst though, is that guy with a 40 year old boat that decides to do an overhaul on the trailer, on the ramp....with an oil slick in the water with dead batteries, clogged carbs, no bilge pump no plug and no tools...

No the worst is the ass hat that parks his boat up on the ramp blocking it (literally on the damn concrete), gets out tries for 20 mins to back a trailer into the other ramp, now blocking both ramps. I'm getting fired up and i'm still laying in my bed.

Or some tourist (or local) parking his/her car in the way of the ramp, then going for a stroll. Makes you want to drag a trailer across the front of the offending car.

Man, I am soooooooo glad I'm in a slip now... this thread brings back lots of memories of battling the launching ramp newbies.

I like going to the ramp on saturdays, and especially on holidays like July 4th and such, just to watch. Better than comedy central. Just about as good is watching a husband and wife try to back a new camper into a spot for the 1st time. Yelling cussing, threats, all make for happy campers.
