They will devour live shrimp, but you will also get a lot of them eaten by pin fish

I tried bull minnows and had no luck. Not sure how small pinfish croakers and finger mullet would work there. I fished that same place with live shrimp and done well. I suck with artificials, so cant comment.

Standard shrimp under a popping cork, soft jerk bait, or a gold spoon for reds.

+1

If you can't catch a redfish with a gold spoon, you might as well quit fishing. oke

Depends if you are going day or night. I have always done best in the evenings around the dock lights on the intercoastal. Light weight and live shrimp. Stay back off docks, throw up current and allow the bait to skim the light's edge around the dock. Usually rip them every time!!
