Goes without saying but anything you put in a boat should a closed cell foam that is also flame retardant. Most of the stuff you find at the home stores will be highly combustible.
Most of that stuff will not support combustion. It will burn as long as there is other fuel around to keep it hot but all alone it gradually goes out. If I'm right, and my wife says I'm usually wrong, then you should be OK in an open aluminum boat.
