Default best 1000 series rod and reel?

I'm looking to get a new combo to do some light tackle speck and red fishing and I'm having a hard time finding a 1000 size reel that is decent. most reels I've looked do not come in the 1000 size. So what's a good 1000 sized reel and what would be a good rod to pair it with For throwing artificials off a kayak?

Look on eBay for a Shimano Symetre 1000FJ. I've got a few of them & they're killer reels for the money.

I have 10 or so Shimano 1000 series reels I use for bream fishing and love them. Like said above the Symetre is hard to beat for the money.

That and the Sahara are the only reels I've found so far in my budget. I have a symetre and love it but was looking to try something new.

Cant beat the Shimano's I like the stradic's but the sinnea's are great for the price.I have 1 each on BPS carbon lite rods.Catch Bass or just what ever happens to get on at the time have caught reds on them 24" good fight. The Sinneas are around 30.00 at Dick's

If you want to try something new, go on Cabelas right now & grab a Smoke 10PTI. They're on clearance for $100 & they're great reels as well.

I have a Pflueger President that I like alot that I use for the same thing that you are talking about. But it may be a 20 size. I just looked and it does not have a model # on it. But it was around $40 and I have it mounted on a 4.5ft Falcon fast action rod.

I also have a Quantum SS1 that I like alot. But it is older. They may not make those anymore.

I'm still using my Stradic 1000FGs that I've had forever. Bulletproof little things. I also have a Penn Conflict 1000 I like a lot.

Sometimes you can find these on ebay, Shimano Biomaster, kind of like a suped-up Stradic.
