Up until about 8 years ago my Dad had a place on Wetappo Creek between Mexico Beach and Wewahitchka.
We used to go to Wewa and buy shiners that were 3-5 inches long, hook them thru the back and throw them near the weeds under a big bobber. Man, that was some fun fishing, especially when a bass would just explode under it.
We would buy about 5 dozen at a time when going down there for a long weekend and keep them in a 50 qt cooler with one of those 12 volt "tower" aerators. We would just take out what we needed for the day and keep them in one of those flow-thru buckets.
I asked for shiners a few years ago at a local bait shop and they gave me crappie minnows.
