Default Bait shops in Okaloosa or Destin

Is there any shops in Destin or Okaloosa that sell live Minnows for surf or pier fishing?

Call Harbor Walk Marina, they had minnows in there on Wednesday. Other than that I think Texaco in Niceville always has some bull minnows.

Salty Bass in FWB has the best live shrimp available.

And there's Pat's under the Brooks bridge. She always has shrimp not sure about minnows. Better ask for a lot of shrimp Cuz she counts them by hand.

Your best bet is learning how to throw a cast net.

Bluewater Bay Marina also used to have a big bait tank running at their fuel station. Not sure if they still do these days. Either way the cleaning station right next to it always used to have a ton of bait hanging out under it. I would say just get a cast net or leave a minow trap out.

Preferably at the foot of a rip current, which is also where you want to be fishing anyway.

Just because you cant see them doesnt mean the bait is there right next too you. Obviously this also depends on the conditions, if there are just walls of foam rolling through you will have a harder time. Set it up perpendicular to the shore so they don't have to try to swim in sideways against the back and forth current. Use enough weight that it isnt tumbling around and dont forget to tie off a small marker float so you don't lose it. It also helps to dig around for sandfleas right next too it, that will bring them in closer as well from all the stuff you stir up.

Another thing I have tried is getting one of those 99 cent cans of mackerel from walmart, usually right next to the canned tuna. Punch holes all over the outside of it and let it soak. Baitfish love it. Once they are there do whatever to catch them, usually cast net is best.
