Default Anyone ever stay at the Key Lantern motel in Islamorada?

I love fishing the keys, but typical lodging cost is just too much for me. I've stayed at the LaJolla, it was clean but expensive. Just a few blocks down the road is the Key Lantern. http://www.keylantern.com/
The reviews are mixed, mostly good. Any forum member with first hand experience?

I stayed there about 8 years ago and while it wasn't the nicest place, it was very affordable and came with access to nice little ramp next to a Bar. We were easily able to launch my 17 whaler there and chase fish all over the back country. For the hotel itself we mostly made drinks and passed out after fishing all day, so it worked.

I know that was vague but I plan on staying there again next time.

Another place to check out is the Atlantic Bay Resort, Sterling rd, Tavernier. www.atlanticbayresort.com. I understand they are under new management, but decent accomodatins, ramp and some docking availability, as well as close proximity to Tavernier Creek if you decide to do some reef fishing.
Hope this was helpful

$190-$399 per night is a bit over my budget. I'm wanting a clean place to sleep between fishing, not a honeymoon suite.

I have friends who only stay at Key Lantern while fishing in Islamorada. The pricing is affordable for Islamorada and the convenience to the LoreLei restaurant and Tackle Center is un-beatable. There is a large grass parking lot behind the place where you can park your truck and trailer during your stay. If you have a larger boat and cant launch at the LoreLei ramp there is a local ramp off Blackwood Drive (really just a hole in the mangroves) but if you scope it out you can launch and re-load a good size boat there.

Searcy, I have never stayed there but been by the place several times. I don't think that you can beat the price. I do wonder how easy it is during lobster season etc to rent a room there. Last time I was in islamorada I stayed at the Breezy Palms and it was $99 for a double bed with no kitchenette. For about another $40-50 you can get a kitchen. So, if the Key Lantern is clean and you only want to crash sounds like a bargain. If you do stay there, give us some feedback.

You get what you pay for, ok with the guys, not so much with the wife and kids. Stayed there years ago, wife told me I could stay she's leaving for something cleaner, mold and bug free. Trashy
