I have a 40 foot sea harvester. Its about the same size and weight as your boat. I have 315 cummins b series and we top out at 21 knots and can cruse at 16 knots. with a clean bottom that the key. If my boats bottom was dirty it would be more like 18 knots top and 12.5 cruse. So you can not get a good performance rating unless it has a fresh clean bottom and running gear.

Fairwaterfishing--Your experience suggests to me I won't get my desired 22knots cruise unless the engnes are the 375hp version. Maybe 20knots with the 340s. I would run an engine 200-300 RPM off the pins to get cruise. Fuel consumption isn't that big a deal with the diesels, and I believe the 3208 Cat could take that as long as one doesn't go above the 375 HP models. Having owned a 1968 Chris Craft Sports Express I know the boat is probably Ok, but the engine situation is making me think I ought to walk away. Thanks
