Default Advice on Cast Net

Hi,

My boyfriend lost a bait cast net a few years ago. After trying several different ones over the years, we are trying to find something similar. I thought I would describe it and see if anyone would be able to tell me if they have seen anything similar. He originally bought it in a pawn shop.

His was 8 foot brail type from the description with a yellow horn. The thing is, it sank SUPER fast, but he caught both mullet and bait fish with it. He said it had 3/8 inch mesh he thinks (maybe 1/2 inch) We primarily catch bait fish and will use it for that but it was also strong enough to catch mullet in as well. Also it spread out nicely in a circle most times when he threw it so we are thinking it had the pie shape panels. I am not sure what type of net would give us the same options.

Any help/suggestions would be appreciated.

Would prefer to buy it locally. Live in Niceville FL but would drive to Pensacola. If you make nets please feel free to contact me as well.

There used to be some pretty nice custom nets at the Texaco station on the right before you went over Rocky Bayou Bridge.

thanks guys...yes, we went by the texaco and the guy that makes theirs lives in Mary Esther. We talked to his wife and she said they don't make bait nets. Johnson's is a little out of my price range....I thought about $100.00 would be plenty for a pretty good baitnet. I will look at brunsonnet.

if you don't have one by Monday morning, call Ms Pat at Brooks Bridge Tackle, a little tiny store under Brooks Bridge in FWB. Tell her what you are looking for, and if she doesn't have it she can get it or tell you where to find it. She is a little known treasure here in FWB and has forgotten more about tackle and fishing than most of us will ever know

raenay if you're interested in a used net I've go a 8' Calusia (sp?) bait net that I'm thinking about selling, it has a pound of lead per foot but I don't remember if it's 1/4 or 3/8s" mesh. It's about 4 years old but hasn't been in the water a dozen times. If you want I'll get it out tommorrow and check size.
PS it will be in your price range.
