I just came home from Gulf breeze, as I was crossing the 3 mile bridge I look to the west, and saw about 12 boats huddled in an area. The bay was flat as glass. It appears they may have been chasing schooling redfish. Can anyone confirm this?

They were partying on Redfish Island, Gulf Breeze's answer to Ft Walton's Crab Island.

It's the only place we can play cards without our wives finding out.

I noticed that yesterday too. I’ve seen em before and sometimes they all take off and go the same direction to another spot. a dozen boats at once.
I sort of assumed it was guides and a few leeches following the big reds around the bay.
nobody looked like they were on top of each other or even within casting distance of each other but it was definitely a tight group of boats.

That is what it looked like, got my palms sweaty to go and join the chase.

Nope, no confirmation. I drove across the bridge today and there were not 12 boats huddled up anywhere.

After several hours today on various sections of the bay, with probably 8 other boats, I saw NO schooling redfish activity, nor did I see any on sonar. Plenty of baitfish schools on sonar though. But it was a gorgeous day, no wind, and much better than watching people in hospitals and hospital cafeterias.

We don't play cards with new guys. Especially ones that are following us.

Were they all old boats? Maybe they all fish together in case they break down and need a tow.
