I am AGAINST illegals as much as the next guy, but having lived in TEXAS for almost 20 years the fact is Mexicans work harder with less BS than ANY anglo, it is what it is. Have you not heard of the clean up crews already headed to the hospitals with their lawyers close by saying "Cough cough BP didnt tell me of the hazards so now I want a million".....we need this crap cleaned up, and bottom line is Mexicans would be here by the thousands for 12.00 and not complain when working 12 - 14 hours a day in a tyvec suit in the heat and our beaches would get cleaned ! I say bring them on, let them clean, then deport their asses !

i dont think the issue should be with who is cleaning it up... BP are the ones that jacked this up and should pay better wages to whomever is doing the work. our fishing, diving, boating, way of life, and most important jobs of many have been affected and it will only get worse. bp should flood this area with wages considering all the damage that is going to be done to the local economy. bottom line 12 bucks isnt enough especially from a company that made probably around 50 billion dollars last year.

I can't address the status of the hispanics mentioned by Boatjob1. However, it is a fact that many workers with temporary working visas have been overstaying their welcome, i. e. not returning home after their visas expire. This makes them illegal aliens.

If ONLY six hispanic jumped out of an extended work van, you can almost be sure that they were not illegal Mexicans.

I just had a contractor contact us for rentals. They had 40 plus workers needing a residence. I signed them up, dont care who they are, and dont care the work. I get my rent and its for over a year. They can pack in 30 in one place it just adds to the total rent. Illegal... who knows Im not gonna ask, its apparent by the Govt actions that its not my problem. So Ill take the money and rent away. I have nothing against a person wanting to better him or herself from a country who is killing their people. I try to better my self daily, I dont want to live well below American poverty dang sure not Mexican poverty. You cant blame the people. You have to look at the Contractor hiring for the diversity if you want to look up something. There should be no reason on any work resume for Ethnic background. It should be presentation, education, and responsibility of the job seeker.

I know men from here and even my friends tell me Man I cant find a job..... do like I do and ask them who they asked that day! You got to be a go getter, dont wait on someone to call, you have no control over that. Be in control, I sell stuff on eBay and make a few hundred just messing around every month. Im sure if you think, there is something you can do.

I always like the Push Mower and a rake. Ill cut any subdivision yard (normally 1/4 acre or less) for 20 bucks. I can do about 6-7 of those a day. Its work, its hot, but its instant gratification and cash to buy some bread.

Dont let me see ya with a pack of smokes and a case of beer on friday complaining about no money or a job. If you dont have disipline to make it, I wont help. Thats how I roll!

Its out there, Id rather an American get the Job but you and I know some Americans think they are too good to do labor!

I don't want anyone havingheatstrokes or such but give me a break.Cutout the unnecessary breaks, cut the workforce in half and double the pay and you'd see alot more cleaning going on. They can even gradually minimize the breaks for conditioning people to the heat but they will never get anything done with that much downtime. Looks like it will be a long process. What the hell will happen if large amounts start washing ashore? Will we have to wait for the weather to cool before it gets cleaned up? I can see it now, BP will have two men teams, one shovelling while the other holds an umbrella for shade. Maybe even a third to hold misting fans and ice cold drinks. Why not use convict labor and let BP pay the counties for it?

you gotta be kidding me right? i find it funny that people often complain about jobs when they dont wanna work. have you been in that tyvek suit? i took the hazwoper class and early in the morning they had us try them on. within 5 minutes i was drenched just like everyone else. i was sceptic like you and thought why so many breaks? its hot as hell in there. people who complains about jobs are the ones who arent qualified to do it. lets say you wanna make doctors pay but you're dumb as hell and isnt qualified. those with good jobs are the ones who really put in the hard work to get there. heres a link to jobs
http://www.employflorida.com/jobbank...&postback=true

if you dont qualify for one of the ones you clicked on because of its high pay, then go get qualified and stop complaining
