Im about to buy an electric one to keep in the kitchen for when its just 2-4 people frying for. Will use to fry just about everything...fish, chicken, fries, hushpuppies, corn dogs, tots, whatever...think i would prefer one with dual basket capability, but dont need amything huge, thats what the propane fryer is for...any suggestions?
Ive never eaten anything from an air fryer so i cant really knock em. Do those take away sone from the flavor of traditional oil fryers? Sometimes i use coconut oil to fry fish or shrimp to get that added hint of flavor and love it
We have an air fryer as well with the rotator in it. Did a whole chicken in about an hour. Best chicken I ever ate. Clean up took me 5 minutes. want to do a pork loin next. But for groups you never will replace the oil and baskets.
We have a T-fal single basket with the integrated oil strainer and storage. Fine for what it is, oil only lasts a couple of cooks. Element burns the oil.
Ive heard the fry daddy is good, do they make a dual basket one? Id like to be able to do meat and fries or whatever at the same time...maybe 2 small fry daddys would be better and still come in cheaper than a bigger dual basket one
Used to have a Tfal, it worked well but would not get the temp quite high enough.
Now have a Waring Pro, it gets plenty hot and with the heat element well above the bottom of the vat it keeps the breading residue from burning and ruining the cooking oil.
I had the Tfal as well. I liked it overall and would reuse the oil a bunch but I like to fry around 375 and that thing would only go to 330 or so. I sent them a note and they sent me another element / controller and same thing, ~330 degrees and it was cutting off. I checked it with 3 thermometers...
We use this Waring. It does not burn oil. Will stay hot at 375 and we throw basket after basket of fish, hush puppies, etc. It has been great going on 4+ years. We did not buy from this place but have this exact unit.
